Rest in the village today has been extended to many countries around the world. And the first home-grown mini-hosts for rural rest appeared in 1955 in France. Currently, the share of agricultural tourism in the European Union varies between 2 and 40 per cent, and on average the sector has a housing stock of about 15 per cent of the total tourism market. This is sufficient to provide housing for about 6 million people.
In Russia, the first successful experience of the organization of rural recreation only began at the beginning of the twenty-first century. In the coming years, as in Europe, we are expected to grow rapidly. Rural Tourism (average 10-20 per cent per year), as illustrated by the experience of the Republic of Kareliyah, Altai, Vlogod, Kaluz, Belgorod, Pskov and Leningrad oblasts, which previously identified the tourism sector as a priority for the development of rural areas and provided it with public support.
Many of those who have already rested in guest houses have valued rural tourism, and the number of people who choose to spend their free time in the village is steadily increasing and, in the long run, their share of the Russian Federation ' s total domestic tourism flow can reach a European level (15-20 per cent).
What usually attracts the city to rest in the village?
First, Rest in the village gives people many pleasures: beautiful natural landscapes, green horizons, silence and tranquillity, lack of crowds, nature aromatics, village loops, clean air, walks in the natural environment far from urban noise and fuss.
